The Institute of Public Health

The Institute of Public Health contributes to all six years of the undergraduate MD program and offers two postgraduate programs. They are the MPH and PhD Programs in Public and Occupational Health. The IPH faculty members teach on other postgraduate courses including the Master’s of Medical Sciences, PhD programs in Biomedical Sciences and the professional Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

Faculty and staffs in the IPH have expertise in research methodology, epidemiology, biostatistics, public health and occupational and environmental health. There is a varied research activity including Diabetes and cardiovascular disease prevention, infectious diseases, maternal and child health, injury, smoking and ageing. Annually, faculty members and researcher at the IPH publish over 30 research articles in prestigious, international peer-reviewed journals. 

The IPH collaborates with a range of stakeholders including other universities at home and abroad, the health authorities, local and national government departments, hospitals, clinics and industry. The IPH also hosts the Zayed Bin Sultan Center for Health Sciences and the World Health Organization Collaboration Office for Occupational Health.

The National Medical Library

The National Medical Library is the first medical library in the United Arab Emirates. The library is open to the public and provides current medical information, point of care tools, blended learning resources and information and research support services to medical students and health professionals in the community.  Located at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, NML offers visitors a modern learning environment including access to top medical resources.

The library’s Systematic Review Service team provides guidance and support in research and search methodology, the publication process, document management and systematic review related software. Librarians are included in several national and international research projects and co-authors papers in high impact medical journals.
